Where Has the Time Gone???

Hey! So...Wow, I can't believe it's been 3 YEARS since my last blog!!! I honestly wasn't expecting life to wrap me up so tightly that I forgot about my passion in writing. I love my children and my family, of course! But I love to write also.

Well, I'm finally getting back into my poetry, I mean, actively writing. But although I hadn't done much with my own book per say, it gladdens me to be able to help others with theirs, as odd as some may find that to be. With my publishing company, Literary Muse Hub (www.PublishWithLMH.com), I was able to help another poetic artist get her expressions out there in the world, and into the hands of others. And she's done a phenomenal job. Her name is Sha'Nae Curtis and her inspirational book of poetry is entitled "A Broken Heart Mended." So do I have work to do? Yes, absolutely! Self-publishing is leg work and that reason is why many people pay the big $$$ for the well known publishing houses, in order for them to do all the work. However, I'm not giving up and not backing down from what I want to do! True success is never easy and for those looking for the easy road, I say they don't really want the benefits that come with true success. They don't want the self appreciation! They don't want the humbled, yet heightened self-confidence! They don't want the unadulterated exhilaration! They don't want the pure satisfaction of seeing what you can REALLY do!

Yes, I'm getting my book back out there, From Roses to Sparrows (www.ExpressionsEmbrace.com), because I know the millions of women out there will appreciate every word. And while I'm doing that, I'll be working on book number 2! Believe it!

Put in the Work!

I'm really pushing now to get my book into as many markets as possible. I used to think that poetry had become a dead genre, but when I met and spoke to those out in the public, many people still love poetry. Needless to say, I was very excited to get such feedback! So I'm still calling bookstores and trying to get some promotional events underway :-) Sometimes it feels like a hustle, but if you don't work hard for the things you love, what will you work hard for and will it really be worth it?

Speaking of hard work in trying to sell your book, I saw this comic strip online and thought it was absolutely hilarious! Hahaha I can totally relate, as I'm sure many self-publishers can also.

Playing Catch Up

MY! MY! MY! I haven't been on my page in such a long time! My apologies ♡ Needless to say, my last pregnancy trimester had me in and out, up and down with all sorts of emotions. Once my husband and I had our little Prince, I completely forgot about my book. But I think that's pretty understandable.

I went through a bit of postpartum depression and since this was my first child, there was a "Life Adjustment" safe to say, and with each milestone, my husband and I are still making adjustments. But my little Prince is definitely the other man and love in my life ;-) And he's currently 15 months young. Wow! I miss him being an infant.  Now he's walking and talking, trying to run and we began potty training. Too bad we can't buy back time; yet I am enjoying seeing him mature and grow ♡

Sales have been going ok and we want them better...so I'm getting back into the grind of getting my name out there and boosting sales. The website is being updated as a prize I won through a poetry contest with The Self-Publisher's Den. I'm excited to see the finished product!

There's a lot more to say, but I'll save that for a little later. Home Stretch

My very first poetry book is in the home stretch of completion! I'm finalizing the colors for the front and back cover and then just have to merge everything to get it copyrighted. I'm super excited about how close I am to getting my book published! I also have to think of a logo design. I've sketched a few ideas so my husband will help me decide which ones look ridiculous and which ones just might work. He's good at telling me like it is ;-)
